Sharing

Public share links, PIN protection, reactions, and audio playback.

Every diagram can become a shareable link, so a voice note turns into something a colleague can open without installing anything.

Sharing from the app uploads the diagram’s assets and creates a link of the form https://share.thoughtsift.app/{token}. Opening that link loads the share payload and renders the diagram in the web viewer. Anyone who has the link can open it, so share it the way you’d share the content itself.

A link lasts 24 hours, then stops opening. An hourly job removes expired share records, which triggers a background clean-up of the share’s uploaded files. You can also turn a link off sooner from the app (Disable public link): new requests through the share link stop working immediately, and a background clean-up then attempts to remove the files. Previously issued asset URLs or cached previews may remain available until they expire or are removed; successful removal of the files, and its timing, are not guaranteed. A copy someone saved while the link was open is outside ThoughtSift’s control.

PIN protection

A share can optionally be protected with a 4–6 digit PIN. The PIN is checked before the protected content is served, and three wrong attempts lock the share. A PIN-protected link doesn’t show a title or summary in chat link previews.

What a share can include

  • The diagram, summary and section cards, rendered in the web viewer.
  • An accompanying image, when one was generated (on by default; you can switch it off).
  • Spoken narration, when available. This is a generated voice reading the sift (normally made in the cloud from its text, otherwise on the phone), not your recording.
  • The transcript, only when you switch Include transcript on. It’s off by default.
  • Reactions — viewers can respond, and the owner receives feedback.

Privacy

Your recording is never included in a share. Sharing is built around the diagram artefact, not your source audio. Without a PIN, the link preview card in chat apps shows the sift’s title and a short summary.
